Seeking Skilled Maintenance Worker

Contract Position

 

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the maintenance and repair of 288 affordable and market rental units owned by Gloucester Housing Corporation. The maintenance worker must be able to complete all aspects of a physically demanding position of property maintenance, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, drywall, janitorial, and grounds maintenance.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in building maintenance, preferably in a residential rental environment, and/or College Diploma with certification in building maintenance or other relevant building trade.

  • Knowledge of Applicable Health and Safety practices and legislation

  • Ability to use computerized systems (Yardi, Microsoft Office, etc)

  • Must possess a valid Class G Driver's License

  • Communication with people from various ethno/socio/economic backgrounds.

  • Able to cope with a physically demanding job

  • Be able to take instruction from Supervisor and have a positive attitude to team working; excellent customer service skills

  • Flexibility when required, which could include working overtime as required to provide a service to Gloucester Housing tenants

  • Familiarity with socio-cultural issues such as poverty, mental health and cultural diversity is considered an asset

  • Fluency in English (required) and French (preferred), both written and oral. A third language is a definite asset: for example, Arabic, Somali, Swahili.

  • Clear criminal and vulnerable sector background check
